The Summit at Lakestone: Construction Milestone Update
Construction activity at the Summit at Lakestone continued to advance at an exceptional pace, with several highly visible milestones now complete that further define the character and progress of the community. Most notably, construction of the Beacon Park Pavilion has now been completed, establishing the architectural centrepiece of the new Beacon Park recreation area. Positioned at one of the highest elevations within the community, the Pavilion offers panoramic views stretching from West Kelowna to Fintry along Okanagan Lake, while also capturing sweeping outlooks over Duck Lake, Kalamalka Lake, and Wood Lake. The Pavilion represents a major step in bringing the lifestyle and amenity vision for this phase to life.
Crews have now completed the full road sub-base throughout the development, along with all FortisBC road crossings, allowing for the installation and completion of the concrete road curbs. This milestone is particularly significant, as the curbs establish the final roadway geometry and represent the critical transition point before paving operations begin, followed by installation of electrical and communication utilities, street lighting, and sidewalks.
Substantial progress was also achieved across the project’s core infrastructure systems during the month. Construction of the stormwater retention tank has now been completed, while final inspections of the reservoir cells and associated servicing connections were successfully carried out. In parallel, all infrastructure works related to the water booster station have now been finalized, completing another key component of the development’s long-term municipal servicing network. In addition, the project team has completed and received approvals for all final geotechnical inspections across the homesites, retaining wall systems, and broader development area. These approvals mark an important technical milestone for the project, validating the extensive engineering and stabilization work required throughout the steep and challenging terrain.
As the project moves into June, the nature of construction activity across the Summit will begin shifting from underground infrastructure toward the highly visible finishing stages of development. With much of the complex underground and civil servicing work now complete, upcoming progress will become increasingly apparent throughout the site as paving operations commence, followed by installation of street lighting, utility services, sidewalks, and final surface works. The trail network is now approximately 98% complete, with only final trailhead landscaping and opening preparations remaining. Overall, the coordinated efforts of the construction and consultant teams continue to position the project ahead of expectations as the community rapidly transitions toward completion.
