The Summit at Lakestone: Lights On, Roads Opening, First Homes Next
After more than two years of extraordinary construction activity, we are excited to announce that site servicing at The Summit at Lakestone is in its final stages. All 57 homesites are now ready for home building, and half have already been sold. What began in August 2024 as more than 15 hectares of steep, heavily forested mountainside has been transformed into one of the most remarkable new neighbourhoods at Lakestone.
This ambitious undertaking required 11 months of extensive rock blasting, the construction of engineered retaining walls reaching an impressive 10.3 metres in height, and the creation of a 2-kilometre emergency access road, giving The Summit a second route in and out of the neighbourhood for added peace of mind. Our skilled construction teams have successfully navigated the challenges of this demanding terrain, delivering the roads, infrastructure, servicing, and amenities necessary to support the next chapter of this exceptional community.
We are now pleased to confirm that our preferred builders can begin submitting building permit applications for review and approval, allowing homeowners to move forward with their architectural plans and preparations for construction.

Final Milestones This October
October has brought several important milestones as crews complete the final stages of servicing and infrastructure:
- FortisBC is scheduled to finish all natural gas servicing by October 25th
- Electrical energization of The Summit is planned for October 26th
- Streetlights will illuminate the neighbourhood for the first time — a visible milestone in the transformation from active construction site to residential community
- Sidewalk installation is now underway
- Crews are transitioning into final site grooming, cleanup, and demobilization across all 57 homesites
- The final lift of asphalt is scheduled for the first week of November, completing the road network
We are targeting November 17th for the official opening of The Summit’s roads to the public — providing the first opportunity to experience the completed neighbourhood firsthand. We hope you’ll come and see it for yourself.
The Infrastructure Behind the Scenes
Behind these final visible improvements is an extraordinary amount of engineering and infrastructure completed over the past two years. The extensive underground sanitary, stormwater, and water servicing networks have been installed, along with a major stormwater retention facility and substantial municipal water infrastructure constructed on behalf of the District of Lake Country — including a new water booster station and reservoir, designed to enhance the community’s long-term water servicing capacity and system reliability, so homeowners can count on dependable water service for years to come.
The project has also successfully progressed through comprehensive geotechnical inspections and approvals covering the homesites, retaining walls, and broader development area. These are significant accomplishments, particularly considering the steep elevations, challenging rock conditions, and technical complexity of constructing an entirely new neighbourhood high above Okanagan Lake.
Beacon Park and the Trail Network
Beyond the infrastructure, the completion of Beacon Park and its surrounding recreational amenities represents another exciting achievement for the community. The new Pavilion, positioned at one of the highest elevations within Lakestone, provides an extraordinary gathering place with panoramic views stretching from West Kelowna to Fintry along Okanagan Lake, while also overlooking Duck Lake, Kalamalka Lake, and Wood Lake.
The extensive trail network, enhanced by wildfire mitigation work across approximately five hectares of park and open space, creates new opportunities for residents to explore and enjoy the surrounding natural landscape. We were thrilled by the fantastic community turnout for our recent trail opening event and look forward to welcoming residents and visitors to the fully accessible park amenities when the roads officially open in November.
What Comes Next — The First Homes
Perhaps the most exciting milestone of all is that the first two homes are scheduled to begin construction in November, pending permits. After years of planning, engineering, and construction, the focus at The Summit is now shifting from building the neighbourhood to building the homes that will bring it to life.
