Take a Polar Bear Dip into Okanagan Lake
January 31, 2022
This is not the season beach lovers typically enjoy a dip into Okanagan Lake, but for some, it has its advantages. Cold water immersion is an ancient practice that has roots in many different cultures and is touted for boosting the immune systems, building resilience to stress, treating inflammation and releasing endorphins.
For those courageous and daring enough to swim in Okanagan Lake in the winter, a regular meet-up occurs every Saturday at 9am at Pebble Beach. Also, the Vernon Winter Carnival Society is hosting the Polar Bear Swim 2022 on February 13th. All money raised goes to the Zimbabwe Project Society.
For a tranquil dip, Lakestone Beach at Waterside Park is a quiet spot perfect for a cold water plunge. The park is complete with a community dock, attractive timber pavilion, picnic tables, and loungers for waterside relaxation.
