The Okanagan tech sector is booming with an estimated contribution to the regional economy valued at $1.67 billion. A newly released study shows the sector’s year-over-year economic growth of 15% since 2013 has created many opportunities for students, entrepreneurs and opportunists. This fast-growing sector is a positive for the regional economy and currently employs 12,474 workers in the innovative technology community.The study was released by Kelowna’s Innovation Centre, a downtown centre that houses small and large technology and innovation firms. Mayor Colin Basran has been very encouraging of the Innovation Centre, seeing it as “a place of prosperity for people in tech and the community as a whole.
