In Loving Memory of Don Erdely

Dear Friends of Lakestone,
It is with an immense amount of sadness that I write to you today to let you know that Don Erdely passed away on April 28th, 2022. He died peacefully surrounded by his partner Heather and his children who have been with him constantly during his last few weeks.
Don was a rock for our company. His steadiness, integrity, and cheerfulness in the face of adversity overcame obstacles, constantly moved the ball forward, and created value for our enterprise, our partners, and our customers for over 15 years. It is because of his efforts that over 1,200 families in our Lakes project and 300 more families in our Lakestone project have a home and lot to call their own. What we have achieved as a company in the Okanagan would not have been remotely possible without him. Don was our man.
As I sit here and try to think of words to describe what Don meant to us, I come to the inevitable conclusion that there simply are no words that can fully describe the kind of man he was. Words fail to express his kindness and his mischievous humility, his selflessness and his humor, his wisdom and his patience.
He knew when to keep things light, and when to be serious. He knew when to be modest and when to boast. He knew how to make complex things simple, and how to build bridges whenever there was a bridge to build (metaphorically and literally). He was a man of virtue, and men like him cannot ever be replaced.
Our founder Rob Macdonald and I feel an immense personal loss over Don’s passing. He was more than a great partner, he was a great friend. Our condolences go out to Heather, Dalee, Travis, Amanda and all those close to Don who are grieving right now.
